Feria de caballo en Jerez

# Feria – Trail

Feria del Caballo en Jerez de la Frontera
11.05.2017 – 18.05.2017 and 13.05.2017 – 20.05.2017 ( fully booked)

Jerez – well-known for horses and Sherry – is Spain’s capital for horse breeding and a “pilgrim destination” for horse-lovers from all over the world who meet here each year at the ‘Feria del Caballo’ (= horse festival). It started in the year 1284 as a livestock market and has developed into a show of the most beautiful horses in Spain. On the premises of the state-owned “stallion depot”, one show follows another; nobles and VIP’s on two and four legs parade past until early morning.

The riding tour starts at the Atlantic beach in Zahara de los Atunes and passes through the typical Andalusian landscape with its meadows and olive groves to end up in the mountains of Alcala.

On one day you visit of the Feria Jerez – you can choice if you prefer to look around, even on the Feria as on all the activities you have around the Spanish horses or if you like to participate with your horse on the Feria in between hundreds of Spanish riders.

General

This is a special trail we offer every year to give you the possibility to take part of a very typical Spanish horse festival.

This program is for experienced riders.

On the trail you ride with Andalusia mares and geldings in Spanish saddles with long stirrups and hackamore on one hand; a very easy and comfortable way of riding for riders and horses. You ride in walk or canter.
You should have good riding experience in the countryside and have your horse under control during the canters and also on the festival place (the horses are used to).
Weight limit 95kg, riding time about 5-6 hours / day (one day without riding or extra booked the Feria ride)

This program can be combined with any program of La Paz.

To participate on the feria ride you have to respect the official regalement about horses and riders. Riders have to wear the typical Spanish dressing ( Traje Corto ). We lend you the Spanish trousers and short jackets.
You have to bring or buy a white blouse, a red or colored shawl, high brown Spanish riding boots and a typical Spanish hat (sombrero). Your guides will help you to get it.
The horses have to be present on the feria with Spanish saddles, the Spanish stirrups and with the Spanish kerb (this requires a very soft hand from the rider). On the feria you will ride in walk and of cause always take care of all others. An experienced “feria” guide will be with you all the time so you can enjoy.

This is the estimated program of the trail, changes are not excluded.
